Sales and Selling (businessballs)
Web Page
A huge resource of skills and theories with more sales acronyms than you can shake a stick at
(SPIN, FAB, USP). It makes light and airy reading but there is still much to dwell on here. A good
effort at not making sales to salesy. Note: this is one long page with several hundred
paragraphs.

Most workers don't want to imagine that their work has any parallels with the cynical world
of sales and salespeople (not least because many will have entered into their chosen field
as a means of moving away from corporate life). However, looking dispassionately at the
abundant discussion of interpersonal skills within sales, and the energy of their discourse, it
seems fairly clear that there is much to learn regarding the skills of reaching out,
maintaining contact, or encouraging attendance. Much social work discourse seems to treat
these skills lightly whereas here at the Resource we believe them to be essential skills for
any kind of worker working with hard-to-reach groups. If they were more amply available
in social work discourse we'd present these discourses but as they're not we look to
websites on sales and selling as guides.
