Websites on longer term therapeutic interventions

Schema therapy Website
Web Page
Schema therapy is a relatively new, cognitive-based form of therapy originating in the US. It has
a developing evidence base for its effectiveness in treating personality disorders and provides
an interesting structure for workers to map service user traits against. Its significant advance
on cognitive therapies is the understanding that most chaotic individuals cannot engage in
much of the traditional activities associated with therapy - diaries, deep awareness, weekly one
on one sessions. The website is high on style but it does not lack for substance too greatly,
though it is cagey with its information (as most are), seeking to promote books or training days.

As with DBT below, Google is now making available the parts of the text book.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
Web Page
DBT is a therapy designed for working with patients with borderline personality disorders. It is a
cognitive behavioural therapy with knobs on and follows the research of Marsha Linehan.

For a well-detailed summary of the approach see this overview:

DBT2

For a detailed look at Linehan's research turn to her book Cognitive Behavioural Treaiment of
Borderline Personality Disorder.
Here we link to it on google books (google allows readers to
look at books but removes one page in five - this is okay to get the gist of the book).

Alternatively, Linehan has set up her own website full of excellent resources for DBT, including
scaling tools, and even advice on getting a good night's sleep. Her website is called:
Behavioraltech.org.

Carl Rogers website
Web Page
This website is maintained by Saybrook graduate school is a bit measly, listing articles Rogers
has written but not offering any for reading. However, here I have linked to the video streaming
page and available to watch are early recordings of interviews and lectures by Rogers himself.
It is strange to see in the flesh a man who is talked about so often (and if not by name then by
allusion each time the terms person-centred, or non-judgemental are used).
