Websites on Dual Diagnosis

Kathleen Scicca's Dual Diagnosis Website
Web Page
This website looks a bit tatty but its resources are good. It has an interesting article on
Motivational interviewing and Dual Diagnosis
that is worth reading.

Rethink's Dual Diagnosis toolkit
Web Page
This is rethink’s dual diagnosis guide. It is worthwhile working your way through it but in truth
there is not a great deal in the toolkit that any reasonably informed worker shouldn’t already
know. The toolkit is a long document presented in a magazine-like style. It prints out well and
most agencies could do with a copy in their office.

Mind - dual diagnosis
Web Page
Mind provide a clear outline of the issues of dual diagnosis. Again, there is nothing here that
most workers won't already know.

DOH Dual Diagnosis Good Practice Guide
Web Page
A PDF outlining the UK government's directive on working with dual diagnosis, laying
responsibility squarely within psychiatric services. Its discussion of engagement is, as ever,
woefully underdeveloped.
Drugs in focus - co-morbidity breifing

Drugscope
Web Page
Another PDF, this time featuring a 4 page briefing on dual diagnosis (though preferring here to
refer to it a co-morbidity). It is very clear and concise.

Dual Diagnosis Australia New Zealand
Web Page
An Australian website that bares a look, though it seems to have been born a couple of years
ago and rarely updated. There is in the articles section a reasonably useful article on service
provision.
The national consortium of consultant nurses in Dual Diagnosis and
Substance Use

DualDiagnosis.co.uk
Web Page
A new resource with sections for patients, carers and professionals. Its resources are still
underdeveloped but it does seem to be a genuine attempt engage professionals in clearer
thinking about Dual diagnosis.
There is also a campaigning component to their work that will be
interesting to watch over the next few years.
